
Valencia Tabbed Rookie of the Year

DURHAM, NC - The Can-Am League announced today that Brockton Rox OF Chris Valencia was selected by the league's field managers and media as the 2009 Rookie of the Year.
Valencia hit .309 with 114 hits, 60 runs scored and 23 doubles. The resident of Garden Grove, CA finished second in the league in hits, third in stolen bases (27) and seventh in batting average. Valencia was a Teamline Direct Batter of the Week recipient for the week of August 10-August 16.
The 22-year-old played college baseball at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, ID. In 2008 for the Warriors, he hit .252 with 29 hits, 18 runs scored and 22 RBI. Prior to transferring to Lewis-Clark, Valencia earned Junior College All-America honors and was named MVP of the South Coast Conference while playing at LA Harbor Junior College.
