WOODBRIDGE, Va- The Potomac Nationals are lifting the lumber and grabbing their gloves in anticipation of their Opening Day bout with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans tonight at Pfitzner Stadium with the game time starting at 7:05 ET and the gates opening an hour earlier.
In addition to the replica championship ring giveaway sponsored by News and Messenger to honor your 2008 Carolina League champions, the P-Nats are excited to announce a one-day promotion that is sure to bring fans to their feet.
The P-Nats are offering fans the opportunity to win $1,000 during their Opening Day game. If the Nationals do any of the following in the associated inning, then a fan that has registered at the Fan Assistance Booth at Pfitzner Stadium wins $1,000. This will be promoted via PA during each inning before a potential winning event might take place.
1st Inning - Nats hit an inside-the-park Home Run
2nd Inning - Nats turn a Triple Play during opposition inning at-bat (top half of inning)
3rd Inning - Nats hit two triples
4th Inning - Nats hit a Grand Slam
5th Inning - Nats hit back-to-back Home Runs
6th Inning - Nats steal Home Plate
7th Inning - Nats hit for Cycle as a team
8th Inning - One Nats player produces two hits in the inning
9th Inning - Nats strike out the first three batters of the opposition inning at-bat (top half of inning)
We can have multiple winners, so if one event occurs, the others continue on as planned.
