Lynchburg Hillcats News Release
Lynchburg won their first road game of the season on Friday night with a 4-3 triumph over the Blue Rocks in Wilmington. Saturday night the Hillcats look to make it five wins in a row when they return to the diamond for a 6:05 p.m. start at Frawley Stadium.
The Hillcats fell down a run early thanks to a two-out RBI single by David Lough that put the Blue Rocks in front. An inning later Wilmington doubled their lead with another two-out RBI to make it a 2-0 game.
It stayed that way until Lynchburg would finally get on the board in a big way with a four-run inning. Ray Chang drove-in the first run of the night with a single. Matt Hague tied the game with an RBI sacrifice fly, and then Miles Durham gave the Cats the lead for good with a two-out, two-run triple to put Lynchburg in front 4-2.
Wilmington would plate a run in the eighth inning to pull within one on the RBI single by Clint Robinson, who had three hits on the night. But Michael Felix would escape that jam for the Hillcats with the one-run lead intact. In the bottom of the ninth, Wilmington had two on with one out, but failed to score and the Cats would win 4-3.
Starter Chi-Hung Cheng (1-0) picked up the win for Lynchburg (7-2) who has now won four in a row and five of their last six games. Mario Santiago (0-2) took the loss for Wilmington (5-4) who had their 2009 home opener spoiled by the Cats.
Game two of the three-game series will feature left0hander Paul Mildren (0-1, 5.79) pitching against his former team for the Hillcats, opposite fellow southpaw Everett Teaford (0-0, 2.08) for the Blue Rocks. First pitch is slated for 6:05 p.m. at Frawley Stadium, and you can catch all the live action with the Voice of the Hillcats Scott Bacon beginning at 5:40 p.m. with the Hillcats On-Deck Show.
