Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

A wild night that included 17 runs, five errors and nearly two hour's worth of a rain delay went Albuquerque's way, as the Isotopes (44-37) used a six-run 4th inning to go ahead for good and complete the series sweep of the Omaha Royals (30-50), 10-7, Thursday at Isotopes Park. Eric Reed finished with three hits, two RBI and two runs scored.

Thursday's game began at 9:02 p.m. MT after a one-hour, 57-minute rain delay. Once the game did get started, the runs began to pour in. Omaha jumped out to 3-0 lead through one, and a 7-1 advantage through 2 ½. The 'Topes weren't out, though, going on to put up a three-spot in the third and rally for six in the fourth to take a lead they'd never let slip away. The win marks Albuquerque's fourth in-a-row and finishes up the series sweep.

'Topes starter Renyel Pinto (7-2) didn't have his best outing of the season, but the left-hander did enough to keep his team alive and earn the win. Over five innings of work, Pinto allowed seven runs on nine hits, striking out three and walking one. Matt Blank tossed a pair of scoreless innings of relief, Wes Wilkerson threw a shutout eighth and Brad Clontz came on to earn the save in the ninth, his 14th.

For Omaha, starter Runelvys Hernandez struck out two of the three batters he faced in a 1-2-3 first before being removed with an injury. Donovan Osborne (0-3) spelled Hernandez and was roughed up right away. Albuquerque touched up Osborne for 10 runs-eight earned-on 11 hits over three innings.

In the second, Jason Wood singled home Mike Kinkade for the first 'Topes run. An inning later, it took RBI hits by Reed, Robert Andino and Kinkade to pull the 'Topes to within three. In the fourth, though, the Isotopes broke the game open. Reed connected on a two-RBI single, Chris Aguila added a two-RBI double and two more came across when Wood reached on a fielding error.

Like Reed, Paul Hoover also went home with three hits on the night. Kinkade was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple. Eight of Albuquerque's nine starters collected at least one hit.

In a gesture of appreciation for fans' patience and perseverance throughout Thursday's nearly two-hour rain delay, the Isotopes announced they will offer a bonus ticket to fans that purchased a ticket to Thursday's game. Tickets may be exchanged for any 2006 regular season game at Isotopes Park, Monday-Thursday, excluding July 3. Fans must have their ticket stub to make the exchange. All exchanges must be made at the Isotopes Park Box Office.

A new four-game series at The Lab begins at 7:05 p.m. MT Friday when the 'Topes welcome in the Memphis Redbirds. Albuquerque is set to send Jeff Fulchino (2-4, 3.91) to the hill, while Randy Leek (3-6, 4.72) takes the baseball for the Redbirds.

Friday's game includes an Isotopes T-Shirt Giveaway to the first 3,000 fans through the turnstiles, courtesy Rocky Mountain RV & Marine. Tickets can be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, www.albuquerquebaseball.com, Ticketmaster outlets, or at www.ticketmaster.com. For more information, please call (505) 924-2255.
