April 1, 2009 - 7 p.m. MST
The Records
Utah is 27-15 overall, 15-6 at home. Rio Grande Valley is 19-25, 8-13 on the road.
The Series
The Vipers lead the season series 1-0 and the all-time series 2-1.
Five Straight
Tuesday's victory at Bakersfield was the fifth straight for the Flash, a new franchise record. Utah has won 15 of its last 21 games.
Last Meeting
Smush Parker and Trent Strickland scored 24 points each to lead RGV to a 106-98 win at the Dodge Arena on Nov. 29, 2008. The Vipers led by as many as 29 points in the second half before the Flash battled back to cut the lead to six points in the final 10 seconds. Bill Walker led Flash scorers with 26 points, followed by J.R. Giddens with 15.
Quotable from Last Meeting
"We were who we thought we were for the first 24 minutes. Then we got bored." ... Rio Grande Valley head coach Clay Moser.
"We weren't ready to go early and you have to be able to play four quarters and not three." ... Flash head coach Brad Jones.
DJ Remains a Bobcat
The Charlotte Bobcats have made former Flash point guard Dontell Jefferson a permanent NBA player, for the remainder of this season anyway. After signing Jefferson to a pair of 10-day contracts, the Bobcats have inked him for the remainder of the season.
They Said It
"It's the same game: one ball, 10 players. (The leagues) are really similar. The level of competition is good no matter where you are, whether it's the NBA or the D-League." ... Utah Jazz post player Kyrylo Fesenko.
"When you send a guy to the D-League, he's got a target on his chest and he gets aimed at every night. Players will want to show they are better than someone coming from the NBA and so it makes players like Almond and Fesenko have to fight harder. We send a player to get a chance to improve and play. We've seen that and had some success." ... Utah Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor.
"When we send an NBA player to the Flash to play in the D-League, they see that there are darn good basketball players down there who are about half a step away from making the NBA. Understanding what the difference is prepares them." ... Utah Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor.
