Erie BayHawks News Release
ERIE - City of Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott today issued a proclamation declaring Saturday, April 11, 2009, Erie BayHawks Day, during a press conference at City Hall. The date will mark the team's final regular season game at the Tullio Arena versus the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
"The level of excitement about the team and the caliber of play on the court is way beyond my expectations," said Mayor Sinnott. "I hope the people of Erie will pack the place and jam the Tullio Arena for the final game of the season."
Mayor Sinnott presented the players, Coach John Treloar, Assistant Ben McDonald and team president Ron Sertz with copies of the proclamation during the ceremony. The proclamation declares the players and coaches as "adopted citizens of this great city."
To thank the Mayor for his ongoing, vocal support of the team, the BayHawks presented their "# 1 Fan" with a team signed basketball to mark the occasion.
