Oklahoma City's Weaver Assigned To D-League Affiliate Tulsa 66ers

April 1, 2009 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

NEW YORK, April 1, 2009 - The Oklahoma City Thunder have assigned rookie Kyle Weaver and re-assigned rookie D.J. White to the team's NBA Development League affiliate Tulsa 66ers. The assignment and re-assignment are the 40th and 41st of the season, respectively.

Weaver, a 6-5 guard, has appeared in 49 games, 17 starts, for the Thunder this season, averaging 5.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 20.6 minutes. He has scored in double figures seven times, including a career-high 19 points in a 133-120 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Feb. 21, 2009. Last night, he scored six points in 16 minutes in the Thunder's 96-95 win at San Antonio.

Selected in the second round (38th overall) in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Bobcats from Washington State University, Weaver was acquired by Oklahoma City in a trade with the Bobcats in August. During his final season at Washington State, Weaver averaged 12.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 35 games.

White rejoins the Tulsa 66ers following two previous assignments from March 17-23 and again from March 29-31. During his first stints with the 66ers, White averaged 14.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 30.8 minutes.

The 6-9 forward has yet to appear in a game for the Thunder this season after undergoing jaw surgery on Oct. 9, 2008. He was cleared by doctors on March 16 to resume full contact drills, two days prior to his first assignment to the 66ers.

Selected in the first round (29th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons, the Thunder acquired White as part of a draft-day trade. A four-year contributor at Indiana University, White averaged 17.4 points and 10.3 rebounds during his senior season.

Weaver and White will join Tulsa today and are expected to be available tonight when the 66ers take on the Toros tonight in Texas.
