
Rio Grande Valley's Jawad Williams Named Development League Player Of The Month

NEW YORK, April 1, 2009 - Jawad Williams of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers has been named NBA Development League Player of the Month for games played in March. Williams joins C.J. Watson, currently a member of the Golden State Warriors, as Vipers who have earned the monthly honor. Watson was named NBA D-League Player of the Week in December, 2007.
In 11 games for the Vipers, Williams, a 6-9 forward, averaged 25.8 points, 7.3 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 steals while shooting 35-of-69 (.507) from the field and leading Rio Grande Valley to a 7-4 record. During the month, Williams scored more than 20 points in each of the team's 11 games.
Also receiving consideration for NBA D-League Player of the Month for March are Idaho's Lance Allred, Utah's Morris Almond (on assignment from the Utah Jazz), Anaheim's Cedric Bozeman, Albuquerque's Will Conroy, Erie's Erik Daniels, Iowa's Othyus Jeffers, Reno's David Noel, Erie's Maureece Rice, Iowa's Courtney Sims (currently with the New York Knicks), and Austin's Marcus Williams.
