Sarnia Sting News Release
The Annual Black & White game in support of the United Way is set for Friday, August 29th - 7:05 p.m. at the RBC Centre in Sarnia. This game will feature newcomers, Jakob Chychrun, Pavel Zacha and Jordan Kyrou as they look to establish their role within the organization and create chemistry playing alongside their new teammates.
The United Way of Sarnia Lambton is a well-established organization, supporting 22 regularly funded agencies that provide over 35 programs and services throughout the Sarnia-Lambton community. Proceeds from the 50/50 draw, Jersey raffle, and lineup sheet sales will go back to the United Way and be distributed to among the aforementioned 22 local regularly funded agencies. The United Way will be releasing their fundraising goal for the upcoming year within the next week.
Executive Director, Dave Brown comments on behalf of the United Way regarding the partnership. "We are pleased to continue our partnership with the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club for another season. The Sarnia Sting have been wonderful partners of the United Way and has aided the United Way in reaching our goals over the past several years by providing additional awareness of the United Way and specifically the campaign, but has also provided a number of opportunities every year to raise funds including the annual Black and White game, items for raffles, and so on. The United Way congratulates the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club for 20 years in Sarnia-Lambton. We wish the club the very best for the 2014/2015 hockey season."
The Sarnia Sting are equally excited to continue the partnership with the United Way, given the unparalleled impact the organization has on the local community. President of the hockey club, Bill Abercrombie speaks to the importance of partnering with the United Way. "The Annual Black & White game is one of the most long standing traditions of the Sarnia Sting and is a great opportunity for the hockey club to support a number of local non-profit agencies with one event. With proceeds earmarked to benefit Sarnia-Lambton, this partnership with United Way is a staple for our organization." Abercrombie goes on to mention, "Compared to Black and White games in previous years, I'd say this game can be as highly anticipated as any other. With newcomers Jakob Chychrun and Pavel Zacha in the lineup August 29th, fans should be excited to catch an early glimpse of these top prospects."
Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and admission is free of charge.
