
IceDogs Acquire Payne from Saginaw in Exchange for Picks

Niagara IceDogs head coach and general manager Marty Williamson announced today that the IceDogs have acquired forward Cody Payne from the Saginaw Spirit.
In exchange for the 6'2, 220 lbs. winger, the IceDogs give up a 15th round pick in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection Draft, a conditional third round pick in 2017 and a conditional sixth round pick in 2017. The third round pick is conditional on Payne playing at least one regular season game with the IceDogs, while the sixth round pick is conditional on Payne scoring 35 or more goals.
In 233 career OHL games between the Oshawa Generals, Plymouth Whalers and Saginaw Spirit, Payne has 56 goals and 53 assists. He has also racked up 252 penalty minutes.
Last season, Payne had a career-high 26 goals in 57 games for the Spirit along with four points in five playoff games.
