Ottawa 67's News Release

OTTAWA -The Ottawa 67's made it sixteen wins in a row on Sunday afternoon inside The Arena at TD Place, in a 5-0 victory over the Erie Otters in their annual Teddy Bear Toss game. Marco Rossi and Mitchell Hoelscher, both with three points, were unstoppable, while Cedrick Andree stopped 27 shots for his third shutout of the season.

It would take just under five minutes in the second frame for Marco Rossi to score the insurance goal and his 25th of the season. Hoelsher (20th) and Rossi (26th) both scored their second goals of the game and gave Ottawa a 4-0 lead before the end of the second. After two periods, Ottawa had 26 shots on goal against 19 for Erie.

The Barber Poles continued their domination in the third period adding another 19 shots on target, for a total of 45. First year forward Jack Beck scored his fourth of the season to increase Ottawa's lead to 5-0. Ottawa's goaltender, Cedrick Andree, was solid throughout the game and made a few key saves to earn his 21st win of the season.

The 67's will be back in action on Friday, January 10, and will look to stretch this historic streak to 17 games when they host the Guelph Storm at 7:00 PM.

POST GAME COMMENTS

F Mitch Hoelscher

On scoring the Teddy Bear Toss goal..... "It was pretty cool. It's the kind of goal that everyone kind of wants to get it, but you don't want to force it. Your mindset can't change, you have to play like it's just any other game. There's more energy in the building and you want to be that guy, but you can't change anything, that what I did, I beat my guy to the net, Sizz made an unbelievable pass and it felt pretty good."

Associate Coach Mario Duhamel

"We're really happy about the way our guys responded today, it was really a team effort and a team win. Everybody contributed to that game, from top to bottom, everyone played well and we didn't give them much. Ceddy made the stops when he had to, so it was a great team effort."
