OTTAWA - The Ottawa 67's have announced Thursday that the club has selected Austrian centre Marco Rossi in the first round, 18th overall, of the CHL Import Draft.

A top prospect eligible for the 2020 NHL Draft, Rossi put up 51 points in 34 games for the GCK Lions U-20 club as a 16-year-old last year. He also played 18 games against men for the GC Küsnacht Lions, in which he had four goals and three assists.

After making the pick, 67's General Manager James Boyd was very excited about his team's selection.

"Marco is a world class player and a top flight prospect for the 2020 NHL Draft," said Boyd. "He has been a consistent point producer and gained experience playing against professionals in the Swiss League NLB. We are confident that Marco will choose Ottawa to continue his hockey development."

Head Coach and VP of Hockey Operations Andre Tourigny echoed Boyd's comments about the latest member of the 67's family.

"Marco is a very talented forward with great hockey sense," Tourigny said. "We will work really hard to convince him that Ottawa is the best place for him to play and for his development. We know Marco is a great NHL prospect for the 2020 NHL Draft and we want to help him to reach his goal".

The annual CHL Import Draft involves teams from the Ontario Hockey League, Western Hockey League and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The draft order is determined by the number of points a team recorded during the previous regular season (low to high). CHL teams are each permitted to carry two import players on their active roster during the season.
