67's Pick up Key Points in 4-2 Win over Oshawa

OTTAWA, ON - With alumni from the 2007-2017 era on hand Saturday afternoon, the Ottawa 67's picked up two huge points in a 4-2 win over the Oshawa Generals.

Winger Quinn Yule had the winner with his fourth of the year late in the second period and Olivier Tremblay stopped 32 shots as the 67's moved to within a point of the Generals for sixth place in the OHL's Eastern Conference.

The 67's got off to the start they wanted in this one as Oliver True scored his fifth of the year when he took a nice pass from Mitchell Hoeslcher and made no mistake in beating Oshawa goalie Kyle Keyser.

The Generals responded five minutes later as Renars Krastenbergs scored to even things up. Sasha Chmelevski, with his 26th of the year, and Oshawa's Allan McShane would trade goals before the end of the first to send the teams into the intermission tied at two.

Things tightened up in the second with both teams careful not to give up the go-ahead marker. That is, until Yule broke the deadlock with five minutes to go in the middle frame, scoring his fourth of the season to put the 67's back on top and give the home side the lead heading into the third. Hudson Wilson iced things with his second of the year on a long shot at the empty net from within his own zone.

The 67's honoured alumni from the last decade before the game as part of the club's 50th anniversary celebrations. On hand were former Barber Poles including Corey Cowick, Shayne Campbell, Matthieu Methot, Thomas Nesbitt, Chris Perugini and Patrick White.

The 67's return to action Sunday afternoon when they host the North Bay Battalion at The Arena at TD Place at 2 p.m.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING

On his team's complete effort... "We played a really solid game. I'm really proud of the way they played. They played hard ... and they didn't panic when we had to protect our league."

On his goalie's performance ... "Their team put a lot of pucks and bodies at the net. We had to be sharp in front of our net. You need your goalie to have your back in those situations and (Tremblay did).

GAME NOTES

Both Sasha Chmelevski, with a goal and an assist, and Mitchell Hoelscher, with two assists, had multi-point games for Ottawa.

Tye Felhaber led the 67's in shots with six on the afternoon.

In what was a fast-paced, clean game, each team received just one powerplay.

The 67's had a big game in the face-off circle: Chmelevski won 13/18 draws, Hoelscher was 11/18 and Jacob Cascagnette was 9/14.
