Brantford Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ONTARIO. A heartbreaking loss for the Hamilton Bulldogs Saturday as they drop a second 4-3 decision to the Kitchener Rangers in just over a week.
The Bulldogs came out with urgency and had the visiting Rangers back on their heels on a couple of occasions as rookie Arthur Kaliyev (23) buried a back-hand at 8:34 for a 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs started the 2nd period with a 5-on-3 power-play and took full advantage. Arthur Kaliyev (24) scored at the 31-second mark followed by a Jack Hanley (2) power-play goal just over a minute later to make it 3-0. Then it was the Rangers turn on the power-play and they connected twice to cut the Hamilton lead to 3-2 after two periods.
Kitchener tied the game 3-3 with a shorthanded goal at 5:48 of the 3rd period with the game winner coming with just 37-seconds left. The Bulldogs Will Bitten was given a chance to tie the game with 13.5-seconds remaining as he was hauled down on a break-a-way, but the puck bounced on the penalty-shot and his shot went wide.
3 STARS:
1) Mario Culina (KIT) 2) Logan Brown (KIT) 3) Arthur Kaliyev (HAM)
It doesn't get any easier as the #1 team in the country comes to Hamilton on Sunday as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds are in at FirstOntario Centre for a 2 o'clock matinee.
