Ottawa 67's News Release

While the 2nd intermission may have belonged to the dogs, during the Weiner Dog Race (proud winners pictured below) the night belonged to the 67`s. The 67`s beat playoff rivals, Niagara Ice Dogs, 3-2 in overtime at the Rona Centre tonight. The season series is now tied 1-1. Ottawa jumped out to a 2 goal lead in the first period off goals from Tyler Graovac & Thomas Nesbitt. The Ice Dogs sent the game into overtime with a pair of goals in the 2nd period. During the 2nd intermission, fans were treated to the sight of over 30 weiner dogs scrambling across the ice to win a gift bag of treats from the game sponsor, Milkbone. The 3rd period belonged to the goaltenders with neither team being able to light up the lamp. At the half way mark of the extra frame, Shane Prince notched his 10th of the season, sending the boisterous Rona Centre crowd into a frenzy.

Tonight`s game also played host to over 2000 members of the Eastern Ontario Ringette Association, seen below showing their talent on the ice. During the first intermission the GCRA Devils faced off against the West Ottawa Wild. The girls played great and it appeared that fun was had by both players and spectators alike.

The 67`s look to continue their winning streak at home next Friday, December 3rd when they welcome the Belleville Bulls for their annual Teddy Bear Toss game at 7:30 PM. All toys collected from the ice after our first goal are distributed to needy families in the Ottawa region. Grab a new or gently used stuffed toy and join us at the rink.
