Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Ottawa 67's edged the Niagara IceDogs 3-2 in overtime to avenge their 5-3 loss back in Niagara last weekend. Andrew Agozzino continued his hot streak with a goal on a penalty shot, while Mitchell Theoret scored an important tying goal that would ultimately bring the game into overtime.

The 67's took the lead during the first period as Tyler Graovac scored at the 7:04 mark on the power play, while Thomas Nesbitt notched one just over ten minutes later to give Ottawa a 2-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.

The second period momentum leaned more in the IceDogs direction as Captain Andrew Agozzino gave a solid effort to accept a breakaway pass, but as he took off he was hauled down and awarded a penalty shot. With 4 goals against the 67's last Saturday night, Agozzino made no mistake in continuing his streak as he scored on the penalty shot to cut Ottawa's lead to 2-1.

Mitchell Theoret then came up with a clutch goal for Niagara at the 19:35 mark to tie the game up 2-2 going into the second intermission.

Neither team could capitalize in the third period, and the game was forced into overtime with a 2-2 score.

In overtime, 67's forward Cody Ceci gave an exceptional individual effort to make a perfect pass to Shane Prince who potted his 10th goal of the season to boost the 67's to a 3-2 overtime victory over the IceDogs.

The IceDogs will return to action this Sunday as they visit the Belleville Bulls at 2:05 p.m.
