Ottawa 67's News Release

This afternoon's game against the Kingston Frontenacs was a toss-up until the end. Our Ottawa 67's were back and forth with the opposition, keeping fans on the very edge of their seats.

The first period closed with three goals scored within the last five minutes. First, the Kingston Frontenacs scored with five minutes left to play, and then we bit back with two goals of our own with less than three minutes, and then again with only 44 seconds remaining.

Our Ottawa 67's gave it their all, but this game was too close to call until it was over. Many fans were surprised with the final score of 6-8. In spite of the loss, there were smiles to be seen as fans left the Civic Centre, happy to have been present for this turbulent game.

Today we were joined by hundreds of boys and girls from our regional Scouts groups. February is the month for all scouts to pay tribute to the founder of scouting, Robert Baden Powell, and the Ottawa 67's were glad to have scouts present for the ceremonial puck drop (shown above).

Two lucky fans got the chance to compete in true cowboy - or girl - style today. Our first intermission's competition required two mad dashes to put on cowboy gear, and then a karaoke-style country sing-off. Fans in the stands voiced their choices for the winner with their screams and shouts, and first place was awarded a $100 gift certificate for Lonestar Texas Grill. Our second place contestant still did well with their prize of a $50 gift certificate. You can see the sing-off, below.

The Ottawa 67's would like to thank you all for coming out today. We hope to see you again, or for the first time, this Friday when your Ottawa 67's take on the Peterborough Petes on home ice.
