67's Erase Three Goal Deficit to Win 10th Consecutive Game

HAMILTON - The Ottawa 67's came back from an 0-3 deficit in what was a wild affair between them and the Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday night, as they took it by a final score of 5-4 in overtime. Noel Hoefenmayer scored the game's tying and game winning goals, while Jack Quinn added two goals himself. Austen Keating was Ottawa's other goal scorer, while Cedrick Andree stopped 25 shots for his 28th win of the campaign.

The Barber Poles found themselves down 1-0 nothing about halfway through the first, as Bulldogs' Logan Morrison opened the game's scoring with what would be the first period's only goal.

The Bulldogs came out hard in the second and added to their one goal lead, scoring two quick goals right out the gate. Navrin Mutter made it 2-0 at 2:27, only to see his teammate Bradey Johnson give the hosts a 3-0 lead only 17 seconds later. The 67's would get one back before the break, thanks to the OHL's leader in goals Jack Quinn, who scored his 42nd of the season with less than five minutes to play in the period, making it 3-1 after 40 minutes.

Known for their strong third periods, Ottawa stayed true to their identity and delivered in the final twenty. Jack Quinn tipped in a Nikita Okhotyuk shot from the point to narrow it down to one goal early in the third, before Austen Keating leveled things up with well over five minutes to play, allowing Ottawa to completely erase the 0-3 deficit they were in. It seemed as if Hamilton would run away with it, however, when Isaac Nurse gave the Bulldogs the lead once again with under five minutes to play. Ottawa would press hard, with six attackers on the ice, to eventually tie things up thanks to a Noel Hoefenmayer bomb from the point with just seconds remaining on the clock. It would be Hoefenmayer, once again, that would give the 67's the win in overtime, as he was completely forgotten in front of the cage, only to be found by Joe Garreffa for the tap in, giving Ottawa their tenth consecutive win.

The Barber Poles will now head to Peterborough to face the Petes tomorrow night, in what will be a big matchup between two of the OHL's top teams. Ottawa will have fresh in their minds the last loss they suffered, back in January, to the hands of the Petes while they were on the road once again. The 67's will then round out their three in three weekend at home, when they host the North Bay Battalion Sunday afternoon, with the puck drop scheduled for 2:00 PM inside The Arena at TD Place.

GAME NOTES

This game was very close in terms of shots, as Ottawa edged Hamilton 31-29.

Cedrick Andree is now two wins away from his second consecutive 30-win season.

Noel Hoefenmayer added to his OHL-leading points tally for defensemen. WIth his two goals on Friday night, he now has a total of 69 points in 47 games.

Jack Quinn has stretched his point streak to now ten games, in which he totals 16 goals, 8 assists for 24 points.

The 67's have now won their last ten regular season games against the Bulldogs, without counting their sweep of Hamilton during last year's postseason.
