Ottawa 67's News Release
OTTAWA - The Ottawa 67's averaged 3,7 goals per game prior to their clash with the Generals in Oshawa Sunday evening, but for the first time of the season Jeff Brown's men were unable to find de back of the net, suffering a 6-0 loss to conclude a busy weekend of three games in three nights.
Despite still being in the game after 20 minutes with a score of 0-0, a difficult start to the second period where they conceded three goals in less than two minutes proved to be the downfall for the 67's.
The Generals opened the scoring at the 1:21 mark of the middle frame through defenceman Medric Mercier who picked up the first of his three points of the night. Eric Henderson - with his first of two goals of the game - and Anthony Cirelli - with his team leading 10th of the campaign - added two quick goals less than two minutes later to make it 3-0, ending Olivier Lafreniere's evening between Ottawa's pipes.
Leo Lazarev tried to stop the bleeding, but the Generals netted their fourth of the period through Henderson's second of the game to take a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes.
The 67's showed more character in the last frame, but Oshawa would add two more goals to hand Ottawa a 6-0 loss - their first shutout loss of the season.
67's will have a few days practice days in Ottawa during the week before hitting the road again next weekend, for another three games in three nights program, starting in Guelph Friday evening on Remembrance Day.
