November 6, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Brantford Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs had revenge on their minds heading into London Sunday afternoon, and they left Budweiser Gardens with a huge 7-5 win.
That was despite having leading scorer Matt Luff out of the line-up due to an upper body injury that will keep him on the shelf for two to three weeks.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 4:13 of the first as Cole Candella (1) scored on the power-play. Connor Walters and Trent Fox picked up the assists. However, London responded eighteen seconds later as the two teams went to their dressing rooms tied at 1.
Hamilton again got a power-play goal from Cole Candella (2) at 3:27 with Walters and Fox getting assists. The Knights then scored three unanswered goals to take a 4-2 lead before Adam Laishram (2) got one back at 18:42 with helpers from Michael Cramarossa and the third assist of the afternoon from Trent Fox. That cut the London lead to 4-3 after two periods.
The Bulldogs best period of the afternoon was the third. Matthew Strome (11) tied the game at 4 at 7:28 with Will Bitten getting the only assist. Ben Gleason (2) gave Hamilton the lead at 14:55 with assists from Strome and Jack Hanley only to see London tie it 5-5 on the power-play at 15:48. Will Bitten (3 and 4) then took over with a power-play goal at 18:09 from Mackenzie Entwistle and Gleason to make it 6-5 with the insurance goal coming at 19:13 with Strome picking up the only assist.
The Bulldogs season record is now 10-5-2-0 with their road record improving to 6-4.
The loss was the Knight's first regulation time loss since October 15th and was their first regulation time loss on home ice all season.
The Bulldogs are back on home ice for two games next week, Friday night against the Sarnia Sting at 7:30 pm with the Oshawa Generals in at FirstOntario Centre on Saturday at 7 pm.
