66ers Get NCAA Pre-Season All American

San Bernardino, CA - Inland Empire is adding a former college All-American in Andrew Smith who was just signed by the Angels. Smith was a preseason All-American by Louisville Slugger (third team) and a nominee for the Lowe's Senior Class Award. In a counter move, Bryant George has been placed on the temporarily inactive list.

Smith led the UNC-Charlotte 49ers in innings pitched, strikeouts and starts in his senior year for the A-10 school. In 2011 he pitched the 49ers to a victory in the NCAA Regional's against Arkansas culminating a season in which he was named a 3rd team All-American.

Inland Empire returns home to host Lake Elsinore for a three game series starting Saturday, July 14th. The 66ers will distribute a "Welcome Home" doormat that night, and then Sunday, July 15th, San Bernardino Recycle presents an Angels Water Bottle featuring Angels Ace Jered Weaver.
