Colorado Eagles News Release

TULSA, OK- The Colorado Eagles became the fastest team in Central Hockey League history to reach 100 wins as they defeated the Tulsa Oilers 6-2 Tuesday night at the Tulsa Convention Center. Colorado reached their 100th win in just 143 games beating the Laredo Bucks mark of 149 games. The Eagles continued to show their versatility with six different players scoring a goal, and goaltender Paulo Colaiacovo earned his league-leading 10th victory of the season. Colorado improved their record to 14-5-0 for 28 points moving them into sole possession of first place in the Northwest Divisions just one point ahead of the Wichita Thunder.

Scott Polaski broke an Eagles record scoring just 12 seconds into the first period to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The road game in Tulsa have been kind to Polaski, it is the place where he has scored his first two professional goals. Polaski was assisted by Chris Hartsburg and Jason Lundmark. The flow continued in the first going up and down the ice with each goaltender having a couple big saves. Shots were even at 10 apiece, and neither team was able to convert a power play goal with Tulsa going 0-4 including not converting on a five-on-three, and the Eagles were 0-1.

Colorado started the second period on the power play but they were unable to convert. The Eagles kept the pressure all period, and at the 5:48 mark, Hartsburg gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead on an assist by Polaski. The Eagles took a 3-0 lead on a much awaited goal by Sean Robertson as he and Garrett Larson performed a give-and-go to perfection for Robertson's first goal of the season. Colorado was not finished and on the power play, defenseman Matt Desrosiers sent a shot in from just inside the blue line that had eyes as it found the back of the net through traffic giving the Eagles a 4-0 lead. The Eagles dominated the second period as they have all season against the Oilers out shooting the home team 20-3 in the period. The Eagles have now outscored the Oilers 7-0 in the second period in four games this season.

In the third period, Garrett Larson gave the Eagles a 5-0 lead on a power play goal at the 4:44 mark. Erik Adams earned an assist on the play in his first game back from a nine-game hiatus due to injury. Tempers flared for the next few minutes of the game as both teams had players in the box for fisticuffs, but as soon as the action started again the Eagles took a 6-0 lead. Fraser Filipic scored his eighth goal of the season tying his goal total from the previous two seasons with the Eagles. Tulsa's Henry Kuster broke the Eagles chance for their first shutout of the season when he beat Colaiacovo right off a draw with just under seven minutes remaining in the game. The Oilers would add another goal with 16 seconds remaining in game on a blast from Darren Shakotko. The Eagles finished out shooting the Oilers 40-26 in the game making it four out of the last five games Colorado has had 40 or more shots.

Colorado continues their road trip in Bossier-Shreveport on Thursday, and then in Memphis on Friday and Saturday. All games are scheduled at 6:05 p.m. MST. Tune in to 99.9 The Point to catch all of the Eagles action, or go online at www.999thepoint.com or www.chltv.com.
