Youngstown SteelHounds News Release
"Al Come Brack":
Much like Arnold Schwarzenegger, defenseman Jeff Alcombrack has been terminating the competition pacing SteelHound blueliners with 14 points (2-12=14). Alcombrack has scored points in 11 of 16 games since joining the Hounds back in late October. The fourth year player is well on his way to career numbers.
Hello My Name Is:
The SteelHounds made several changes prior to last week's games with Lubbock signing forwards J.F. Labarre, Bill Mosler and Chris Schaffer along with defenseman J.R. Holmes. Additionally, the Hounds released defensemen Kevin Harris (claimed by Memphis) and Marc-Andre Roy (claimed by Fort Worth). Labarre has the most experience of the four newcomers playing 165 professional games. Last season he scored 22 points (13-9=22) with Adirondack of the United Hockey League. Schaffer (Lakehead University), Mosler (Univ. of Buffalo) and Holmes (R.I.T.) are all rookies.
St. Germain Returns To The Line-Up:
After missing three straight games with an injury, goaltender David St. Germain returned to the line-up last week going 1-1 with a 3.00 goals against average. In two games, the netminder saw 54 shots and made 48 saves (.888). His win on Saturday versus Lubbock ended his personal five game winless streak.
College Nights Debut On Wednesday Versus Rio Grande Valley:
The SteelHounds announced that every Wednesday game for the remainder of the season will be College Nights at the Chevrolet Centre. Fans that show their student ID's will receive an $8.00 discounted ticket and also every Wednesday night 12 oz. beers are just $3.00.
One Timers:
- Jeff Christian ranks in the top 5 in the CHL with 18 goals and 29 points. He has points in each of the last six games (6-3=9).
- Chris Richards is also on a six-game point streak totaling three goals and six helpers over that stretch.
- Scott Barnes has assists in each of his last three games.
- The SteelHounds are ended a six-game losing streak against the teams of the Southern Conference on Saturday with their 3-1 victory over Lubbock.
