56th Stryker Brigade to be Honored at Home Finale
September 1, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA, Pa - The Altoona Curve are pleased to announce that they have invited all members of the 56th Stryker Brigade of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard to Thursday's season finale at Blair County Ballpark when the Curve take on the Akron Aeros (AA - Cleveland Indians).
Each member of the brigade was given four complimentary tickets to Thursday's contest as General Manager Rob Egan and team mascot Steamer were among hundreds of people waiting at the Frankstown Armory to welcome home their troops on Monday afternoon.
At the end of the second inning during Thursday's game, all troops will be recognized as part of the Curve's East Coast Gun Sales Soldier Recognition. Each home game at Blair County Ballpark this season the Curve have recognized the both active members of the military and veterans in partnership with East Coast Gun Sales.
"This was an easy decision," Egan said of the distribution of more than 600 tickets to the soldiers and their families along with the decision to honor the soldiers during Thursday's finale. "It was great to be on hand to see all the soldiers be reunited with their families and children and the Altoona Curve just wanted to do our part to make sure they know their sacrifices aren't going unnoticed back home."
Thursday's Curve game versus Akron will feature a Thirsty Thursday special presented by Rocky 104.9. All small fountain sodas and 16 ounce Bud Light Drafts will be half price all game long. Additionally, for the second year in a row, Curve players will emerge from corn stalks in the outfield just as they did during the 1989 film "Field of Dreams." Players will then walk into the crowd to personally thank fans for their undying support all season long. A spectacular fireworks show will follow the game.
Great seats for Thursday's game are still available and can be obtained by calling 877-99-CURVE, online at AltoonaCurve.com or in person at the Blair County Ballpark ticket windows.
