Rey Gonzalez pitched five shutout innings for Las Vegas Saturday, one day after being transferred from Double-A New Hampshire, as the 51s beat the Tucson Padres 10-0. It was the first time the Padres have been shut out in 2011. Aaron Cunningham went 2-for-4 for Tucson, and was the only Padres player with more than one hit. Tucson starter Jon Leicester was hit hard for the second time this homestand, surrendering eight earned runs in six innings of work.

Like they did Friday in their 10-1 win, the 51s scored at least a run in the first two innings, scoring twice in the first and once in the second. Craig Stansberry doubled to lead off the game and scored pitches later when Travis Snider hit a double. Adam Loewen hit a three-run home run to left field in the seventh inning, chasing Leicester from the game. The Padres bullpen pitched well, allowing just one run in three innings of work and the Padres pitching staff as a whole did not surrender any walks Saturday.

Cameron Maybin went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and three ground outs in the second game of his injury rehab assignment. The Padres turned three double plays in a game for the first time Sunday, two of which started with acrobatic plays by second baseman Jarrett Hoffpauir.
