5-4 Win Over Gatineau Olympiques in Overtime Ends Trip

A 5-4 win over the Gatineau Olympiques in overtime results in an entertaining end to a 3-game road trip

The Moncton Wildcats score two goals in a penalty filled first period at the Centre Robert Guertin in Gatineau, Quebec. The two goals for Moncton were scored in the first five minutes of play while the remainder of the period was riddled with penalties.

Moncton was assessed 28 minutes in penalties and Gatineau served 23.

Moncton's Scott Trask, Cedric Leblanc and Cole MacMillan, served minutes for fighting while the remainder sat through roughing, agressors, interference and kneeing penalties.

Steve Gleeson got the start in net for the Wildcats tonight stopping 31 shots, while Gatineau's Maxime Clermont stopped 12 of 15 shots on net before being pulled and replaced by Francois Lacerte..

Adam Janosik of Gatineau took a cross checking penalty 1min 25 seconds into the hockey game allowing Moncton's Alex MacDonald to take advantage and score Moncton's first goal 10 seconds into the powerplay.

To up the score to 2-0, Devon MacAusland tipped a pass to Daniel Pettersson in front of the net who was able to put another goal past Maxime Clermont.

The second period had Moncton with 10 shots on net, 13 for Gatineau. Five penalties were assessed to Gatineau this period, and two for Moncton.

The score at the end of the 2nd period was 3-1 for the Moncton Wildcats.

Moncton's 3rd goal came as Allain Saulnier passed the puck to the point for Brandon Gormley who buried his shot into the back of the net; this forced Gatineau to make a goalie change. Maxime Clermont was pulled from the net and replaced by Francois Lacerte

Jean-Gabriel Pageau for Gatineau made the score 3-1 after a scramble in front of the Moncton net.

1 minute 56 seconds into the third period Adam Janosik took a one timer shot from the point which was tipped by Philippe Halley who took control and put the puck in behind Steve Gleeson. This goal made the score 3-2 for Moncton.

To tie the game up at 3 Yoan Pinette took the rebound off of Alex Noel's drive to the net and buries it in behind Steve Gleeson..

At the 7min mark of the 3rd period Moncton attempted three quick shots on Lacerte only to have the puck turned over to Tommy Tremblay of the Olympiques who took the puck down the ice to score.

In a last ditch effort, Moncton played 6 men on 5 sitting Gleeson on the bench which allowed Moncton's Marek Hrivik to tie the game, putting the puck past Lacerte on a pass from Devon MacAusland with 25seconds remaining in the 3rd period.

At 3:14 of the overtime period Daniel Milan put one up over the shoulder of Francois Lacerte to win the game for the Moncton Wildcats.
