Toledo Mud Hens News Release
The Toledo Mud Hens have reached another ticket milestone in selling 400,000 tickets for the second consecutive season. This number is made up of season tickets, group sales, and individual game tickets that have been sold for the 2003 season. The Hens reached the 400,000 ticket plateau on June 25 during the Inaugural Season at Fifth Third Field.
Mud Hens General Manager Joe Napoli said "The fact that we have achieved this milestone for the second straight season is really a testament to the superb baseball fans in the Toledo area. We strive to offer a reasonably priced form of entertainment for fans of all ages and reaching the 400,000 ticket plateau shows us that people are taking notice of our efforts."
The Hens broke the all-time Toledo baseball attendance record in 2002 when 547,204 fans witnessed the Mud Hens make their first playoff appearance since 1984 in their inaugural season at Fifth Third Field. The former record was 343,614 fans during the 1953 season at Swayne Field. Ticket sales for the 2003 season are on-pace to match last season's record-shattering numbers.
For more perspective on the rate of this year's sales, the Hens have already sold 73% of last year's attendance with approximately four months left in the 2003 season.
