RICHMOND, VAâThe top third of the Ottawa lineup collected eight hits and drove in nine runs as the visiting Lynx defeated the Richmond Braves 13-6 at The Diamond Friday.
Ottawa leadoff hitter Brian Roberts recorded five RBI on a pair of singles and a triple to pace the Lynx' 14-hit attack. His second inning triple off Chris Fussell (3-4) drove in three of Ottawa's six runs in the frame. Two-hole hitter Eddy Garabito added a double and three RBI while three-spot hitter Luis Matos collected four safeties and one RBI. The Lynx plated all 13 runs between the second and the fourth innings, victimizing Fussell for six runs in 1.1 innings and relievers Derrick Lewis and Billy Sylvester for a combined seven scores in 2.2 frames.
John Stephens (1-2) recorded his first victory of the year despite allowing 10 hits in six innings.
Johnny Estrada and Travis Wilson led the Braves at the plate with three hits apiece. Bo Porter launched an eighth inning two-run homer for Richmond, who recorded 13 hits on the evening.
The Braves welcome the Syracuse SkyChiefs to The Diamond Saturday for a four-game series. Saturday's series opener is slated for a 7:00 p.m. first pitch with the radio broadcast on WXGI AM 950 beginning at 6:45 p.m.
