O'FALLON, MO - The River City Rascals, presented by Progress West Healthcare Center, are pleased to announce Hometown Heroes Night on Thursday, August 20th at T.R. Hughes Ballpark. The Rascals host the first place Kalamazoo Kings at 7:05 p.m. with the O'Fallon Firefighters and Police Department battling in a softball game prior to the contest.

The Rascals will honor hometown heroes throughout the night and donate five dollars from select tickets purchased to the Backstoppers organization. Groups of 20 or more that purchase these select tickets for the event will receive preferred seating, the opportunity to win door prizes, throw out the ceremonial first pitch, the chance to lead the crowd in the 7th inning stretch and have public address recognition and their name on the message board if they mention Backstoppers. It's your opportunity to show your support for local law enforcement agencies and all the emergency medical personnel in the area.

All tickets must be box seats, club seats, corporate tent suites, or open-air party boxes. Single game tickets can be purchased by contacting the box office prior to the game or the day of the event. Individuals must mention that they would like to support the Backstoppers in order for the donation to be given.

"We're happy to host an event honoring all of our local Hometown Heroes, who have given their lives to protect our community," commented Rascals Executive Vice President and General Manager Chris Franklin.

Backstoppers is an organization that benefits most Missouri firefighters, emergency medical technicians, police officers, and part of Illinois. Proceeds given to the organization go to fallen officers and you can visit their website at www.backstoppers.org.

"There are 43 area families who directly benefit from the help and support of Backstoppers and events like this," stated O'Fallon Police Officer and event organizer Dave Goewert." "We can enrich the families of the fallen in this fun way but need the support of our great community."

Everyone that wishes to purchase tickets for the event can contact the Rascals box office at (636) 240-BATS (2287). Don't forget to mention the Backstoppers to ensure your five-dollar donation is awarded to the organization.
