Greenville Groove News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Groove defeated top-ranked Huntsville 86-79 in their first game of 2003. Greenville is now 2-1 vs the Flight this season. The Groove?s record is 11-8, while Huntsville fell to 12-9.
Greenville went of a 31-9 run in the fourth quarter to close the game. Greg Jones had 9 points in the fourth quarter alone. Soumaila Samake had 4 points and 8 rebounds in the fourth.
Soumaila Samake in his second game with the Groove had 13 points and 11 rebounds. He was named the Greenville Groove player-of-the-game.
Huntsville was led by Eric Chenowith, with 15 points and 3 rebounds.. Bakari Hendrix (14 points), Lonnie Harrell (13 points), AJ Buyton (10 points) all added double digits for the Flight.
Greg Jones had 15 points, going 6 of 12 from the field. Fred Williams (13 points) and Greg Gray (10 points) also contributed double figures tonight.
Greenville is seeing excellent play from its bench. Tonight, the Groove bench outscored the Flight bench 50-20. The Groove also out rebounded the Flight 38-27.
The team travels to Fayetteville tomorrow to face the Patriots at 7:00 pm. Fayetteville is in 1st place in NBDL standings, with a 12-7 record. Greenville is 1-2 vs the Patriots this season.
