
Flight Falls at Greenville Friday Night, 86-79

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Jan. 3) â The Greenville Groove rallied from a 22-point third-quarter deficit to defeat the Huntsville Flight 86-79 in NBDL action here Friday night at the Bi-Lo Center.
The Groove (11-8) outscored Huntsville 38-9 over the final 12:21 of the contest and limited the Flight (12-9) to just 3-of-19 shooting over the final 10 minutes. The victory put Greenville percentage points ahead of the Flight for second place in the league standings.
Greg Jones scored nine of his 15 points in the final quarter, while Soumaila Samake added 15 points and 11 rebounds in the contest for the Groove. Former UAB standout Fred Williams contributed 13 points for Greenville, while Donald Hand added 12 and Greg Gray 10.
Eric Chenowith led four Flight players in double figures with 15 points, as Bakari Hendrix tallied 14, Lonnie Harrell 13 and A.J. Guyton 10.
With the game tied at 15 in the opening period, the Flight went on a 11-2 run to take a 26-17 advantage after one period. With a 50-39 halftime lead, the Flight exploded for a 17-9 run in the third period including nine straight points that gave them their biggest advantage at 70-48.
Huntsville then went scoreless for the next 4:37 when Hendrix snapped the slide with a bucket with 7:44 to play to make the 72-64 for the Flight.
The Flight now looks to break a two-game losing streak when they travel to Columbus for a 6 p.m. CT contest Saturday.
