The average age of an NBDL player is 24.5 years. Of 79 players currently wearing an NBDL uniform, 56 of them are 25-years-old or younger, and 28 NBDL players are 23 years-of-age or less. The youngest team in the NBDL is the Mobile Revelers with an average age of 23.4, while the team with the oldest average age is Columbus at 25.3.

Anybody's Guess

In some places it's called parity. The NBDL prefers competitiveness. A quick look at the current NBDL standings shows that on any given night it's anybody's guess who might win. The current longest streak of any kind in the league is two wins by the Fayetteville Patriots.

Holiday Dreaming With Wilks, Simmons and a Little Tang

Just in case you went heavy on the turkey and are just awaking from a food-induced stupor, following are a the best of the NBDL Holiday highlights.

¨ Mike Wilks of the Huntsville Flight was called up to the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 23 and started his first game in the NBA, scoring seven points and not turning the ball over in 33 minutes. In his second game he led the Hawks in scoring with 19 points. Wilks failed to turn the ball over in his first 67 minutes of NBA action.

¨ Bobby Simmons of the Mobile Revelers was called back up to the Washington Wizards a couple of days after Wilks. He scored four points against the Chicago Bulls earlier this week and has played in two games..

¨ Tang Hamilton of the Columbus Riverdragons was named NBDL Player of the Month for games played in December 2002. Hamilton averaged a double-double through 11 games in December for the Dragons, 16.2 points and 10.1 rebounds.

Skip, Skip, Look for a Pass?Skip, Skip, Look for a Pass

Since joining the Mobile Revelers on Dec. 27, Rafer "Skip to my Lou" Alston has begun to redefine the art of the NBDL assist. In just four games with the Revelers, Alston has already dished out 42 assists, a hearty 10.5 per game.

They're Coming Out to See Us

The Calendar has just turned to the New Year and already over half of the NBA teams have scouted an NBDL game. Sixteen (16) of 29 NBA teams have already requested credentials for at least one live NBDL game (some have seen several), and since the NBDL is the only minor league with a national television package, chances are the other 13 teams have also taken a peek before coming out live later this season.

Cameras Go to the Star City

The ESPN2 cameras and crew will be in the Star City of Roanoke, Va. Saturday to capture the game against the Asheville Altitude for tape delayed broadcast on Monday, Jan. 6 at 4 p.m. The game will also be replayed on NBA TV Jan. 7 at noon.

Good Month

Although Tang Hamilton won NBDL Player of the Month honors for December, several players around the league also put up impressive numbers.

¨ Point guard Terrell McIntyre helped bring the Fayetteville Patriots from worst to first during December by averaging 18.8 points and shooting 50-percent from the floor. McIntyre is a big reason the Patriots have won six straight road games.

¨ Forward Eugene Edgerson averaged 9.1 rebounds in 12 games for the Mobile Revelers.

¨ Guard Billy Thomas continued his steady production in Greenville, averaging 14.4 points in nine games.

¨ Huntsville's Bakari Hendrix scored in double digits in all but two December games and has scored in double figures in 11 of his last 12 outings.

¨ Terrence Shannon owned the nets for Roanoke, shooting 60-percent (59-98) from the floor in the month of December. Shannon averaged 16.2 points in nine games.

Time For a New Start

Tip off time for the January 20 game with Mobile hosting North Charleston at the Mardi Gras Dome has been shifted to 2 p.m. CT. The game was originally scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
