Billy Thomas Breaks NBDL Records In Final Game Of The 2002-2003 Season

Greenville, SC - Billy Thomas had 49 points to lead the Greenville Groove in a 126-94 victory over the Asheville Altitude in Saturday afternoon action at the BI-LO Center. Greenville finishes the season with a 22-28 record, while Asheville finishes with at 23-27 record.

Billy Thomas also added 10 rebounds to his 49 points. His 49 points are the most ever scored by an individual in a NBDL game. The previous record was 38, held by Devin Brown and Gabe Muoneke. He also holds the record for the most three-pointers made in a game with 10. He and Artie Griffin held the previous record, which was 8.

As a team Greenville broke the record for the most team three-pointers in a game, with 21 made three-point attempts today.

Donald Hand also contributed a double-double in today's game, with 26 points and 10 assists. The former Virginia stand-out also added 5 steals. Center Soumaila Samake had 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Lee Scruggs who had 22 points and 4 rebounds led Asheville. Luke Recker (13 points), Gary Williams (13 points), Brandon Kurtz (11 points), Eddie Elisma (10 points), and Kevin Morris (10 points) all had double figures for the Altitude.

Greenville shot 58 percent to Asheville?s 46 percent from the field.
