Seattle Thunderbirds News Release
KENT - The Seattle Thunderbirds have announced Tij Iginla, Hyde Davidson and Macklin Celebrini have been invited to Hockey Canada's Under-17 Team summer development camp.
The camp is set to take place July 10-16 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.
"I am really excited for the players that have been selected for this prestigious event," says General Manager, Bil La Forge. "We have already seen Tij and Hyde with our group and they showed that they are a huge part of what we envision as an extremely bright future. Mac is an exceptional young talent and we look forward to monitoring him as the year progresses as he could potentially add to our club in the future."
In the 2021-22 season Tij Iginla has played in 32 games with Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna U18 and has 26 goals and 22 assists for a total of 48 points. Iginla signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the Thunderbirds in December 2021.
"We are excited for the opportunity Tij has created for himself," says Director of Player Personnel, Cal Filson. "He is a smart, hard working forward that creates offence using his speed. "
In the 2021-22 season, Hyde Davidson has played in 34 games and has 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points with the Norther Alberta Xtreme U16 Prep team. Davidson signed a WHL Standard Agreement with the Thunderbirds in December 2021.
"It's great to see Hockey Canada take notice of the potential in Hyde's game like we d0," says Scout Craig Goebel. "Hyde has the ability to be a top pairing defenseman, he defends very well and can also contribute on the offensive side of the puck. I can certainly see a role for Hyde with Hockey Canada."
The Thunderbirds are in the midst of an impressive playoff run with Game 5 of the Western Hockey League Championship Series being played Saturday, June 11 in Edmonton. Fans can watch the game on WHL Live and follow along by tuning into the T-Birds social media channels.
