Windsor Spitfires News Release
Ben Johnson had two goals and two assists to lead the Spitfires to a 6-3 win over the Peterborough Petes Sunday afternoon at the WFCU Centre.
Nick Czinder and Kerby Rychel each chipped in a goal and an assist as the Spits (13-13-2-1) got back to .500, splitting two games on the weekend.
Rychel's goal was his team-leading 16th of the season. Michael Clarke scored his 10th on a penalty shot and Adrian Robertson had his 7th on the power play.
But Johnson continues to be the story of the last two weeks.
Our reigning Player of the Week stretched his consecutive-game point streak to six, with the first four-point game of his career. He has six goals and six assists with a +8 rating during that span, and has cemented a spot for himself on the top line in the process.
After assisting on our first two goals, Johnson scored in the third period to make it 5-3 on a brilliant play by Nick Czinder, then again into an empty net to seal the win.
Jaroslav Pavelka was rock solid again in goal for the Spits, making his second start at the WFCU Centre; a 30-save performance.
The Spits are now off until Friday, when they begin a three-game road swing through Eastern Ontario, in Ottawa.
