
2002 First-Round Pick Koreis Signs with Coyotes

Springfield, MA â The Phoenix Coyotes, the NHL affiliate of the Springfield Falcons, have signed center Jakub Koreis to a multi-year contract. Koreis was selected by the Coyotes with the 19th pick in the first round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The Coyotes did not disclose terms of the agreement in today's announcement.
Koreis has skated for Plzen of the Czech Republic elite league for the past two seasons. The 6'2", 210-pound forward collected seven points (1g, 6a) and eight penalty minutes in 23 games last season. Koreis, who turned 19 years old on June 26th, competed for the Czech Republic at the 2003 World Junior Championships in Nova Scotia where he did not figure in scoring in six games.
Koreis, a Plzen, Czech Republic native, attended the Coyotes' rookie summer training camp which concluded in Phoenix on Saturday.
