
Former AHL scoring champion Domenic Pittis to return to the Rochester Americans

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that center Domenic Pittis has signed a one-year contract with the Buffalo Sabres.
The former American Hockey League scoring champion is slated to return to the Rochester Americans.
The Calgary, Alberta, native returns to the Sabres organization, where he played two of his nine professional seasons (1998-99 and 1999-2000). The Amerks flourished in those two seasons with Pittis, winning two Western Conference championships en route to consecutive appearances in the Calder Cup Finals.
In 1998-99, Pittis won the John B. Sollenberger Trophy as the AHL's leading scorer after registering 104 points (38+66) in 76 games. In 1999-2000, he led Rochester with 65 points (17+48) in 53 games. During the Amerks two playoff runs, he led the AHL in assists and points. During the 2000 Calder Cup playoffs, the center recorded a franchise-record 26 assists in 21 games. The 26 assists also tied the AHL record. In 1999, he had 21 points (7+14) in 20 playoff games.
In his Amerk career, Pittis amassed 55 goals and 114 assists in 129 games. In the postseason, he collected 11 goals and 40 assists in 41 games. Pittis also played in 10 games with the Sabres over the two-year stint.
Pittis has played in a total of 82 National Hockey League games with Edmonton, Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Nashville. The 5-11, 190-pound center has recorded five goals and 11 assists in his NHL career. Last season, he played in two games with the Nashville Predators and 30 games with the Milwaukee Admirals.
In his AHL career, Pittis has played for the Amerks, Syracuse Crunch, and Milwaukee Admirals. In 234 games, he has recorded 89 goals and 176 assists for 265 points.
Pittis was a second-round selection (52nd overall) of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.
