Kingston Frontenacs News Release

Kingston - When the puck drops on the 46th season of OHL hockey in Kingston this Thursday with the Frontenacs visiting the Petes in Peterborough, one of the biggest moves off the ice will be on the radio frequency dial. The Kingston Frontenacs and Corus Entertainment have signed a multi-year agreement to broadcast all Kingston Frontenacs games on Fresh Radio 104.3 FM. While the game broadcast moves a Kingston-based frequency, the games will still be called by veteran Frontenacs play-by-play announcer Jim Gilchrist. "We are excited this partnership with Corus Entertainment will give fans a more in-depth broadcast experience, a fresh approach if you will, with the familiarity that comes with veteran Kingston Frontenacs broadcasters at the helm of our game," said Justin Chenier, Executive Director of Business Operations with the Kingston Frontenacs. "This is truly a partnership, one that will see more active promotion of our team and games in the Kingston market. With Corus, we get a spectrum of coverage, on both Fresh Radio 104.3 and 96.3 Big FM, and with Global Kingston."

"Corus Kingston is thrilled to score this deal with the Frontenacs," said Lars Wunsche, Regional Director for Corus Radio Ontario. "Coverage led by 104.3 Fresh Radio and supported by 96.3 BIG FM and Global Kingston is sure to be a big hit for the entire Kingston community. We look forward to this partnership and the exciting season ahead of us."

On home game nights, Global Kingston's Doug Jeffries, the most recognized face in sports coverage, will join legendary announcer Jim Gilchrist, the Voice of The Frontenacs on 104.3 Fresh Radio to swap stories, insights and analysis. Gilchrist is a veteran of calling over 2,700 OHL games, 2,222 of which have been with the Kingston Canadians, Raiders, and now Frontenacs. His career calling OHL games predates the Kingston OHL franchise, starting back in 1972 in Oshawa.

"Continuing with Jim calling the games was a very important part of this deal," said Chenier. "Jim's knowledge of our team, the league, and hockey is truly unparalleled, and Corus was very quick to make that part of what they wanted to see in their broadcast."
