Colorado Rapids News Release

The Colorado Rapids and Portland Timbers will meet for only the 11th time in MLS with a 5-4-2 overall record in favor of the Rapids, including a 4-0-2 record at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Defender Michael Harrington joined the Rapids from the Portland Timbers in a deal announced Dec. 8, 2014. During his time with the Timbers he started in 54 out of 58 games. In 2013 he led the club with 2,951 minutes played and set new career highs in games and minutes played.

Portland defender Nat Borchers began his MLS career with the Colorado Rapids in 2003, starting in 22 out of 23 matches during his rookie campaign. He played in 83 matches for Colorado, scoring two goals before being transferred in 2006 to Norwegian Club, Odd Grenland (now known as Odds BK).

Homegrown Player Dillon Serna worked under Caleb Porter - now head coach of the Timbers - who was at the helm of the University of Akron for Serna's only collegiate year in 2012.

Portland goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey has started each of the team's first 13 games this season, logging a 1.00 goals-against average and five shutouts. Kwarasey's five clean sheets is tied for third among MLS goalkeepers. Kwarasey also ranks among the top 10 in minutes played (1,170), saves (33) and saves percentage (71.7).

Current Orlando City SC forward, Danny Mwanga spent the second half of the 2012 season with the Portland Timbers, playing in 18 matches (seven starts) and scoring three goals before coming to the Colorado Rapids in 2013, in exchange for Colorado's 2015 first round SuperDraft pick.

Rapids skipper Drew Moor will play his 300th MLS match this Saturday, should he take to the field against the Timbers. He has, so far, played 287 regular season games, as well as 12 postseason matches. Moor has a personal 5-4-0 record against Portland.

Portland ranks first overall in the league in dribbles completed (116). The stat tracks moments when an individual player successfully dribbles around an opponent while retaining possession. Portland's mark is 17 more than the next- best team. Midfielder Darlington Nagbe (40) and defender Alvas Powell (29) rank second and third, respectively, in the league behind FC Dallas' Fabian Castillo (47). Highlighting the stat is the fact that the Timbers are the most fouled team in MLS (190), while Nagbe is the most-fouled player in MLS (38).

Just two Rapids players have featured in all 1,080 minutes of the 2015 season. They are goalkeeper Clint Irwin and midfielder Lucas Pittinari.

The Timbers are in the midst of a busy schedule that started with a May 23 road match against Toronto FC. Portland played host to D.C. United in a midweek match at Providence Park on Wednesday before heading out to Colorado for a road match on Saturday, for three league games (including two road games) in an eight-day span.
