AVON, Ohio - The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy Health, could not score any runs, despite recording 10 hits on Tuesday evening at Sprenger Stadium, as they dropped the series opener to the Evansville Otters, 5-0.
The loss for the Crushers (25-21) was their fourth in a row, tying their longest losing streak of the season, while the Otters (24-21) snapped a three-game slide with the victory.
The Crushers stranded 10 base runners on the night, including seven in scoring position. They left the bases loaded in the seventh inning. The loss marked the second time that they were shutout this season.
The Otters used a pair of two out singles to score the game's first run in the top of the second. After retiring the first two batters of the inning, Mason Klotz (2-2) allowed a single to Zach Welz, who stole second base before scoring on Joe Deluca's RBI single to right.
Evansville went to work again in the top of the sixth inning, adding four more runs on four hits and they capitalized on a pair of errors. Jeff Gardner drove in the first run of the inning with a single to right which scored Ryan Long, who walked to start the inning. Deluca struck again a few batters later with his second RBI single of the game. Taylor Hillson reached on Aaron Hill's two out error which allowed the final two runs of the inning to score.

Randy Wynne (4-4) went the distance for the Otters, tossing a complete game shutout. He struck out 12, walked just one and allowed 10 hits.
