BC Lions home opener July 8th vs Ottawa packed with entertaining events

VANCOUVER, B.C, JULY 6th, 2005 - The BC Lions will play their home opener on Friday, July 8th, 2005, against the Ottawa Renegades. The BC Lions Wall of Fame inductees will be the focus of the pre-game festivities.

The Lions and Save-On-Foods will also launch the Lions Street Party on the corner of Beatty and Robson Streets prior to the game. The Street Party features entertainment for Lions fans of all ages including face painting, poster making, inflatable games, and appearances by Leo the Lion and the Felions Dance Team. Enjoy live music on the Main Stage at the Terry Fox Plaza and lots of great food along the street. The action, which starts at 5:00 p.m. and runs to kick-off, will be aired live on local radio stations.

Preceding the game, a VIP Wall of Fame reception will be held at 5:00 p.m. Larry Crawford, Ken Sugarman, Dal Richards and the 1964 BC Lions team will be inducted. Former Players, Coaches, Cheerleaders, Miss BC Lions, Team Staff and Media from all over the Lower Mainland will reunite to witness the 2005 inductions into the newly redesigned BC Lions Wall of Fame. The reception will include a short ceremony, where the players will be awarded with plaques.

At halftime, BC Lions fans will have the opportunity to celebrate the inductions as the players are welcomed on the field for a special ceremony and video montage. Throughout the season, fans will be able to visit the new Wall of Fame, which is located at B.C. Place Stadium, inside Gate A.

The Felions 2005-06 Calendar will be available for sale at the BC Lions Sales Table at Section 11 on the main concourse pre-game and during halftime. The Calendars, sponsored in part by Alberta Springs Canadian Rye Whisky, are $10.00 each.
