The Latest The Binghamton Mets scored four times in the first and never looked back, leading by as many as six before beating the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 8-5 in the series opener at NYSEG Stadium yesterday...every B-Mets starter reached base at least once and eight of the nine recorded a hit...Carlos Gomez went 2 for 3 with an RBI triple, Michel Abreu doubled and scored twice and Ambiorex Concepcion picked up his first hit and RBI as a B-Met, driving in a pair as part of a 1-for-4 evening...starter Miguel Piñango earned his second win of the year, yielding 4 runs in 5+ innings...relievers Ryan Cullen and Matt Lindstrom allowed a run over the final four frames, with Lindstrom earning the save...the B-Mets have won two of three to start their six-game homestand.
About Binghamton Thursday, RHPs Henry Owens and Mike Pelfrey, OF Jorge Padilla and 1B Michel Abreu were named to the Northern Division squad that will take part in the EL All-Star Game 7/12 at Altoona...Binghamton finished 14-12 in June after a 9-21 May.
