Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced Friday that goaltender Nathan Lieuwen has been recalled by the team's AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. Lieuwen has appeared in nine games this season with the Eagles, posting a 5-1-1-1 record and a 3.25 goals-against average. In addition, forward Josh Nicholls has been activated from the injured reserve and is expected to make his Eagles debut tonight against the Rapid City Rush.

Nicholls suffered an injury during training camp while playing with the Rampage and has not yet appeared in a regular season contest. The Richmond, British Columbia native has netted 62 goals and 68 assists in 174 ECHL games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, posting at least 20 goals in each of his three seasons with Greenville.

A 6-foot-2, 190-pound winger, Nicholls has also appeared in 22 AHL contests with the Hartford Wolf Pack, registering one goal and three assists. Drafted in the 7th round of the 2010 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Nicholls made the jump to the pro game following a stellar career at the major junior level with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League. In 332 games with the Blades, Nicholls notched 313 points in 332 games, scoring at least 30 goals in three of his five seasons in the WHL. In his final season in Saskatoon, he scored 47 goals in 71 games, to go along with 38 assists.

The Eagles return to action tonight when they host the Rapid City Rush at 7:05pm at the Budweiser Events Center.
