PARKE LEADS DASH TO SWEEP
Behind seven strong innings from John Parke, the Dash beat Myrtle Beach 6-1 on Monday night at TicketReturn.com Field to clinch a series sweep. With the win, Winston-Salem finishes its six-game road trip with a 4-2 record. Parke lasted seven innings and allowed just one run over six hits in the victory. After scoreless innings to start the game, Winston-Salem jumped in front in the third inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Mitch Roman lined a two-run single to left to make it a 2-0 Dash advantage. The Pelicans plated their lone run of the ballgame in the bottom of the third, but the Dash broke away for good in the top of the sixth inning with four runs. Cameron Seitzer and Ian Clarkin combined to throw two shutout innings to cap off the win.
HOLY PITCHING
Over the last four games, the Dash pitching staff has allowed just three runs total, including posting two straight shutouts against the Mudcats and Pelicans on Friday and Saturday. Kyle Kubat shut down the Carolina offense in Friday's series finale, allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out 10 in five innings of work. Meanwhile, in Saturday's game, righty Blake Battenfield tossed six shutout innings and struck out five to help the Dash to their second straight shutout. Henzman followed suit with three scoreless innings of work on Sunday and then Parke helped cap off the stretch with his aforementioned performance.
