BOWIE, Md. -  Two early miscues proved costly for the Thunder in a 2-1 loss to the Bowie Baysox on Saturday night at Prince George's Stadium.

After D'Arby Myers led off the bottom of the first inning with an infield single and stole second, Thunder second baseman Rey Navarro booted a ground ball off the bat of Corban Joseph, putting runners on the corners. Anthony Santander doubled off the left field wall, scoring Myers. But on the play, shortstop Abiatal Avelino made a late and errant relay throw toward second, allowing Joseph to score the second run on the play.

Left-hander Reiver Sanmartin, however, recovered to hold the Baysox (25-28) scoreless over the next four innings in his double-A debut. He dueled with Bowie's Keegan Akin, who earned the win by tossing five scoreless innings and allowing just three Thunder hits.

Trenton managed just one run on a RBI-double to left-center by Avelino off Baysox reliever Branden Kline. Domingo Acevedo starred in relief for the Thunder, pitching the final three innings and retiring the final nine of the 10 batters he faced.

The Thunder twice put the tying run on base in the ninth against right-hander Tanner Chleborad via singles, but Zack Zehner was erased when Gosuke Katoh lined into a double play, and Rey Navarro's two-out single went for naught when Jhalan Jackson struck out to end the game.

Your Thunder will go for the series win Sunday at 1:35pm against the Baysox. RHP Brody Koerner (0-0, 6.35) will start for the Thunder, and LHP Jayson Aquino (2-2, 5.25) will go for Bowie. Pre-game coverage begins at 1:20pm on 920 AM The Jersey and online at www.TrentonThunder.com/Broadcast.
