Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- Batavia closes out the road trip against the West Virginia Black Bears. Batavia has won five of their last seven games, including a four game win streak. Batavia is 4-2 in the month of August, and find themselves six games out of a wild card spot.
That was last night- Batavia was shut out for the third time this season last night. Entering the game yesterday, the Muckdogs were putting up 6.2 runs per game in the start of August. Humberto Mejia retired his first 13 batters in the ballgame, but did give up two runs that would charge him with the losing decision.
Rodriguez Rocks The 'Pen- LHP Manuel Rodriguez has been lights out for Batavia this season from the bullpen. He has not given up an earned run this season since June 19th. That stretch has lasted 30.2 innings for Rodriguez. Six of his last seven outings have seen him also strike out at least four batters, including a season-high seven his last time out.
Two-out trouble- The Muckdogs have had issues getting out of innings once they've reorded two outs. Batavia has given up a .289 average with RISP and two outs. Of Batavia's 251 runs against, 102 of them have crossed the plate with RISP and two outs.
Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has now hits in 19 of his last 24 games. He's tallied 29 hits, two home runs and has crossed the plate nine times in that span. He is second on the team with four home runs. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Reynolds Raking- Sean Reynolds has been able to find the power in his bat this season. He currently leads the league in home runs, RBI's and also leads the league in runs scored. He is also the league leader in walks with 32. Reynolds currently stands tied for second in the NYPL in extra-base hits.
Close Calls- Batavia has played a total of 48 games this season, 29 of which have been decided by two runs or less. Batvia has played the most one-run games of any team this season, and the Muckdogs are 15-14 in games decided by two or less. Batavia has the fourth best reord in one-run games, and the worst record in two-run games at 2-6.
Recent Roster Action- On August 6th, 3B Bubba Hollins was assinged to Batavia.
Marlins Update- Miami took the first game of the series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Former Muckdog Brian Anderson drove in a run, and the winning run was the result of a Starlin Castro homer.
