
Iowa Energy Fall to Grand Rapids

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (12-14) fell 90-87 to the Grand Rapids Drive (12-11) Thursday night in overtime at Wells Fargo Arena.
The Energy were led by Memphis Grizzlies assignee James Ennis with 22 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Alex Stepheson posted his 18th double-double in the last 19 games with 17 points and 15 rebounds. The Drive were led by Spencer Dinwiddie with 24 points, three rebounds and five assists.
It was a slow start for the Energy with Grand Rapids jumping out to an early 12-point lead. Dinwiddie scored eight first quarter points for the Drive to lead them to a 27-18 lead at the end of the first. Iowa started the second quarter on an early run to close the gap. The Energy stayed within a few points of the Drive until they took the lead in the closing minutes of the half. Grand Rapids tied the game just before halftime, 45-45. Stepheson picked up his double-double in the first half with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Energy opened up a nine-point lead in the third over the Drive behind 11 points from Ennis. Iowa outscored the Drive 30-24 to hold a 75-69 lead at the end of the third. The Energy struggled in the fourth, scoring just 12 points as Grand Rapids came back to tie the game in the final minute to send the game to overtime. In overtime, Grand Rapids scored the only basket with an early three to take the lead. Iowa had two chances to tie the game and force a second overtime in the final 30 seconds, but were unable to get a three to fall and fell 90-87.
The Energy are home again Saturday at 7pm for Country Night with a post-game concert by Lindsay Ell.
