Oklahoma City Blue News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - Four Oklahoma City Blue players scored over 20 points as the Blue defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 126-112, in its highest-scoring game of the season on Thursday at the Cox Convention Center.

Dakari Johnson led the Blue with a career-high 23 points on 10-of-13 shooting while pulling down eight rebounds and blocking three shots. JP Tokoto and Marquis Teague each scored 21 points and Talib Zanna totaled 20 points and 15 rebounds, good for his fifth double-double in the past seven games.

Tomislav Zubcic tallied a career-high 15 points with nine boards off the bench and Boubacar Moungoro shot 3-of-6 from behind the three-point line en route to 13 points with four steals.

The Vipers outscored the Blue 64-63 in the opening half and the two squads remained locked through the midpoint of the third quarter. Trailing by one, the Blue ignited on a 15-3 run over the next three minutes to take an 11-point lead. The Vipers brought the game back to a two-possession difference as Oklahoma City held a 98-92 advantage after three quarters.

The Blue scored 12 straight points in the heart of the fourth to pull away and hold a double-digit lead for the final seven and a half minutes to claim its third win in a row.

"We have gradually and incrementally improved and sometimes while you are improving you are not winning," said Blue Head Coach Mark Daigneault on the season thus far and the Blue's current stretch of wins. "We started at 1-11 and there were plenty of games that we got better during that stretch. We certainly haven't figured everything out yet, there is still a lot we can still improve on. We are playing better defensively, playing better offensively and we are doing both more consistently. When you string that together over the course of a long game you'll win games."

Oklahoma City (10-19) shot 51.1 percent from the field and assisted on 23 baskets. The Blue outrebounded the Vipers 54-41 and scored 68 of its points in the paint.

Rio Grande Valley (14-13) was led by Montrezl Harrell with 27 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and seven blocks.

The Blue will spend the next week in Southern California for a three-game trip that begins Saturday night at the Los Angeles D-Fenders. For more information, visit OklahomaCityBlue.com.
