Game Notes: vs. Maine Red Claws
March 3, 2017 - NBA G League (G League)
Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Series Notes: Tonight's game between the Sioux Falls Skyforce and the Maine Red Claws marks the first and only matchup between the two teams after Sioux Falls moved from the East to the Western Conference during the offseason. Last season, the Skyforce finished with a 3-1 record against the Red Claws, winning by a margin of 17.3 points per game in their three victories. However, both teams carry drastically different rosters than they did a season ago. Maine has been riding the hot hands of Abdel Nader (22.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game) and Marcus Georges- Hunt (16.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game) throughout the season, while Jalen Jones (21.9 points and 9.0 rebounds per game) has been putting up big numbers as well. Meanwhile, Keith Benson has continued to pace the Skyforce with 25 double-doubles on the season, good enough for best in the NBA D-League. Sioux Falls has undergone quite a bit of roster turnover in recent days, adding NBA veteran Johan Petro and rookie Stephen Croone from waivers, and signing Greg Whittington and Larry Drew II as returning players from a season ago. The Force have also traded away Stefan Jankovic and Luis Montero and have received back a second-round pick, Kadeem Jack from the Reno Bighorns and the returning player rights to Vincent Hunter. The Skyforce will look to remain in the playoff picture and have new players mesh with a win tonight.
