Iowa Wolves News Release

Santa Cruz, Calif.- Jarell Martin and Cartier Martin combined to score 49 points in the Iowa Energy's (7-22) 98-92 loss to the Santa Cruz Warriors (17-12) Friday night in front of a sellout crowd at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz, Calif.

After trailing by as many as 16 points in the first half, the Energy used an 18-3 run to start the third quarter, taking their first lead of the game since the opening basket.

Tied at 72-72 heading into the fourth, the Energy built a seven-point lead through the quarters' first four minutes. However, the Warriors would come charging back. A 10-0 run in the next four minutes gave the home team the only lead it needed as Santa Cruz secured its fourth straight win.

Grizzlies assignee Jarell Martin had a productive night for Iowa. The LSU product scored 21 of his 24 points in the first half and finished one rebound shy of a double-double.

Cartier Martin scored a season-high 25 points just two days after finishing with 24 points in Iowa's 106-104 win over the Reno Bighorns.

Wade Baldwin IV posted a nice all-around stat line of nine points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Both teams struggled to find much rhythm offensively, shooting a collective 38 percent from the field and 28 percent from the three-point line.

Five players finished in double figures for the Warriors, led by Phil Pressey's 20-point performance. James Southerland chipped in 18 points, 15 of which came in an offensive outburst during the first half.

The Energy will finish their three-game road trip tomorrow night in Salt Lake City as they take on the Stars at 8:00 p.m. The team then returns home on Tuesday, Feb. 7 for their annual Education Celebration game against the Oklahoma City Blue at 10:30 a.m.
